Love God, Love Others, Serve the World

The Lookout Student Ministries (Grades 6-12)

At The Lookout, our desire is for all students to know and believe that God loves them, and in response, experience life transformation as they actively love God, love others, and love life.

Our gatherings are designed with students in mind – we have high-energy worship music, engaging messages, and community building through our grade-specific Connecting Groups. We study a wide range of topics that are relevant to teenagers. If you have teenagers that want to get connected, The Lookout is a great place for that to happen.

We’d love for you to connect with us on Facebook.

Wednesday Gatherings (6:30-8:30 pm)

In a similar way to the crowd of believers that met continuously for teaching, prayer, and doing life together (Acts 2:42-47), the first half of these gatherings are designed to provide a time for our students to come together for social interaction, worship, and teaching in a larger (all grades) group context.

With all aspects of the night aligned with the theme of the message, students from all walks of life are able to have a memorable experience every single week. After participating in worship and listening to teaching, students are able to dialogue in smaller, grade-specific Connecting Groups about the lesson that they just heard in the larger group.

In a smaller group context, the disciples heard hard teaching, asked good questions, and choose to believe despite opposition (Matthew 6:60-71). In a similar way, students need a safe place to dialogue about their faith. For that to happen we give them a consistent group leader because they need a person who they can trust and confide in.

We also give them a consistent group of their peers because they need a place that makes them feel safe and comfortable. Our Connecting Groups are designed to create a consistent, safe opportunity for students to build an authentic faith as they grow comfortable enough to verbalize their faith and doubt, and through that, connect with one another. When that happens, students are able to be as real as they can be and own their faith for themselves.

Sunday Gatherings (10:15-10:45 am)

In a similar way to Mary who chose to listen to the Lord above everything else, despite the contrast in her sister Martha (Luke 10:38-42), these gatherings are designed for the student who desires to not only listen to the Lord but do as He instructs in all aspects of life.

Each week we take the Scripture and content that was discussed on Wednesday night and dig a bit deeper. Each week we walk through a four-step process where students HEAR from God through His Word, TALK with others about their faith, talk to God through PRAYER, and get challenged to LIVE in a way that honors God.

Sunday Service (9 or 11 am)

Students that develop a lifelong faith are students that find ways to live out that faith on a regular basis. To facilitate that in our students, we encourage them to find a place to serve each and every Sunday before, during, and/or after a worship service. They could play on the worship team, lead a small group in The Treehouse, hold the door and greet adults coming into the worship service, run the slides for the songs and message, or a number of other things. We want students to find a place that fits them well. A place where they can enjoy being the church each and every week.

Other Opportunities

Teen Bible Quizzing: We have an excellent quiz team that competes once a month throughout the school year. Their practices are on Sundays at 6 p.m. at the church. Through competition, students are finding the motivation to study the Bible on a regular basis.

Friday Night Lights: We open up our space once a month throughout the school year to give students in grades 6-12 a safe place to be with one another outside of school. We feature a special event each month like Archery Tag, Laser Tag, and Bubble Soccer. We want relationships to grow, new relationships to develop, and ultimately give an on-ramp for students to our student ministry.

We also host special events regularly, like those seen in our calendar below, which is for our current season of ministry.
