Pastor Jerry Walden has served churches in Illinois, Indiana, and Michigan since the mid-1970’s. He has also served seven churches in the mid-Michigan area as Interim Pastor. In 2015, he retired from the Grace Bible Church of Owosso, Michigan where he served as Lead Pastor for 9 ½ years in a bi-vocational ministry. Pastor Jerry holds a Master of Divinity degree from Grace Theological Seminary and a Master of Clinical Social Work degree from Michigan State University. In addition to his pastoral work, he is also a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with the State of Michigan.
In 1989, while pastoring in Syracuse, Indiana, Pastor Jerry’s wife and three children died in an automobile accident which led him to transition to providing Christian counseling, focusing on grief and loss. He served at the Gerholz Christian Counseling Center, a ministry of the First Presbyterian Church of Flint from 2000 until his retirement in 2018, serving as the Director from 2012 to 2018.
Currently, Pastor Jerry is on the faculty of Spring Arbor University, teaching social work at the Bachelor and Master level. Pastor Jerry and his wife Darlene reside in Owosso and enjoy spending time with their two sons, Randy and Molly Woodworth and Jim and Jillian Woodworth along with their four grandchildren.
